Almond Essence

Almond Essence is an ideal flavour complement for vanilla, chocolate, maple or butterscotch. This authentically nutty store-cupboard staple is perfect for using in cakes or  tarts or but is also gorgeous when added to pastries and fruit dishes. For thousands of years, gourmands have prized almond essence for its sumptuous, full-bodies flavour.
It’s said that the Egyptians used to flavour their breads with almond oils whilst Cleopatra was so enamoured with almonds that she regularly bathed in their milk. More recently, since the 1500s almonds have become a mainstay ingredient in cookies, jams, cakes and liqueurs, and they continue to be a widely used and popular ingredient to this day.

As well as a baking addition, almond essence can be used in fruit dishes, salad dressings and sauces, to flavour drinks and even to be added to pumpkin or banana breads to increase the depth of flavour.
